Md. Asaduzzaman is a distinguished Bangladeshi tax official, social leader, and educationist, with a long and respected career in public service and community development. Born on July 20, 1964, in Araji Postompur, Thakurgaon Sadar, he is the son of the late Abdul Haque Sarker and Jahanara Khatun. Coming from a family of landlords and farmers, Mr. Asaduzzaman inherited a legacy of leadership and resilience.
Early Life & Education
Mr. Asaduzzaman faced hardships early in life after losing his father in 1973, while he was in Class IV. Raised by a strong and devoted mother, he grew up with five siblings in a modest household shaped by discipline, education, and ambition.
His academic journey began with an S.S.C. from Madar Gonj M. B. High School in 1979 and H.S.C. from Thakurgaon Govt. College in 1981. He earned his B.Sc. Ag (Hons.) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 1986 (completed in 7 years due to national political unrest). Later, he completed his MBA from Northern University Bangladesh in 2005, majoring in Service Marketing, and went on to achieve his LLB (Hons) from the University of Northumbria, UK in 2014, focusing on international law and EU regulations.
Professional Career
Mr. Asaduzzaman served as a Commissioner of Taxes under the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh. Throughout his career, he was repeatedly recognized for his excellence in identifying tax evasion and avoidance. His international credentials include certification from the Malaysian Tax Academy for completing the LHDNM-OECD Seminar on International Tax Avoidance and Evasion in 2009.
In 2019, he spearheaded a vital reform proposal for NBR’s Central Survey Zone in Dhaka, addressing digital planning, revenue targets, and manpower optimisation. Following retirement, he continues to serve as a consultant in income tax, VAT, and customs.
Political & Social Engagement
Mr. Asaduzzaman has been deeply involved in student activism since his university years. He played a key role in anti–Marshal Law movements, holding positions such as Organizing Secretary and later President of the Bangladesh Chhattra Union at Bangladesh Agricultural University.tect.

Family Life
Mr. Asaduzzaman’s wife, Mrs. Tohura Begum, is a devoted homemaker involved in share business. Their daughter, Anila Zaman Tushy, is pursuing A-Levels at Mastermind School. Their twin sons, Anaf-uz-Zaman Tanjim and Aquib-uz-Zaman Tahsin, are students at Saint Joseph International School and College. The family is known for its warmth, unity, and mutual inspiration.
Personal Interests
Outside his professional life, Mr. Asaduzzaman enjoys traveling, reading, and listening to classical music. He has visited several countries including India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, USA, and Canada.
